BOB ROWLANDSON

Year Inducted: 2019

Bob Rowlandson became the first inductee into the AFC Oldham Hall of Fame in 2019, one of the club’s founder in 2005 he had served as Club Secretary and Manager.

Whether choosing the new kit, organising the yearly Sportsman’s Dinner, fundraising, washing kit ‘Mr AFC Oldham’ would help in any way he could to provide support to volunteers and players. Involved in football for his entire adult life, he was loved and respected by all until his death, still sorely missed by all who knew him.

Son and Club Development Officer, Andy Rowlandson, received the ‘Bob Rowlandson Hall of Fame Shield’ from Chairman Pete Bird, before a standing ovation after an emotional speech from both men.

Chairman Pete Bird commented: “Bob Rowly has done every single job at this club. He was completely involved, whole heartedly. He is a guy I have the upmost respect for, without a shadow of a doubt. Bob is and always will be sadly missed not just by me but by everyone past and presently involved in AFC Oldham.”

JIMMY SMITH

Year Inducted: 2020

Jimmy Smith was our second inductee into our Hall of Fame in 2020. Very much involved at the club from our inception in 2005 right up to stepping down in 2021, Jimmy managed a junior team all the way through to open age football, becoming one of our longest serving managers in the process.

Jimmy was also Club Secretary for a number of years and was never afraid to dig in and help out in other roles and tasks. He washed kits, made curries for after games, made shelving for the clubhouse and would even get his boots on to help a team out if numbers were low!
